In today’s increasingly digital world there has been a question of whether libraries are still needed. Most reading services have subscription options, such as Kindle Unlimited. This gives you access to thousands of books for only a small monthly cost. Then, when it comes to movies and television the same is true. There are subscription services as well as several other streaming services. With all of this, why do we need libraries?

The benefit to libraries that these points miss, is that libraries are needed for so much more. Access to a safe location that does not require money is essential to so many people. All over the nation, there are children who do not have access to locations like that. Libraries are an essential resource and to remove them would cause irreparable damage. We need libraries and to lose them would be a loss worth grieving.
